The DPD app connects your store to the DPD Shipment API. Shoppers choose DPD home delivery or a DPD Pickup point (a shop or a parcel locker) at checkout. The label is created when you fulfill the order. The cash on delivery amount is put on the shipment for you. The app needs "Courier apps" on your plan. Plus and Pro include it. See Plan and billing.
Before you start
- You need a contract with DPD Slovakia. Ask your DPD sales contact for Shipment API access: you get a DELIS ID (your customer number) and an API key tied to an email address.
- In DPD Shipper (
https://www.dpdshipper.sk), note the ID of your pickup address under Settings → Pickup addresses. - For cash on delivery, also note the ID of your bank account under Settings → Bank accounts in DPD Shipper.
Set up DPD
Open Apps → App Store, open DPD and select Install. Installing works the same for every app, see App Store.
In the Settings section, fill in the fields described under Settings.
Select Save in the save bar.
Select Check the credentials. The message The credentials work. confirms that DPD accepted the API email and key.
Select Turn on. The status of the app changes to Active.
Open Settings → Delivery and go to the shipping settings of the location you ship from. Select Connect a courier and connect DPD to the location.
In the shipping zone that covers the countries you send DPD parcels to, select Add rate.
Type the Rate name the shopper sees at checkout, choose DPD under Courier, enter your price and save. Checkout now offers the rate.
A rate added this way is a DPD home delivery rate. To offer Pickup points as well, turn on developer mode, add a shipping option for the same zone and choose the entry ending in "DPD Pickup point (shop / parcel locker)" under Provider and delivery. See Locations and shipping.
The prices are the ones you set. The app does not ask DPD for live rates.
Settings
- DELIS ID (required): the customer number DPD assigned to your contract.
- API email (required): the email address your DPD API key was issued to.
- API key (required): the DPD Shipment API key. It is stored encrypted.
- Pickup address ID (required): the numeric ID of the address the courier collects from. It is in the ID column under Settings → Pickup addresses in DPD Shipper.
- Bank account ID: needed for cash on delivery only. The numeric ID of the account DPD pays the collected amount to, from Settings → Bank accounts in DPD Shipper.
- DPD product: the product every label is created with:
DPD Home,DPD Classic,DPD 10:00,DPD 12:00orDPD 18:00 / Guarantee. DPD Home is the one for deliveries to private customers and is the default. - Parcel weight (kg): DPD needs a weight on every parcel. This one value is sent for each parcel. The default is 1.
- Notify the recipient: DPD announces the delivery to the customer by email. DPD Home, the timed products and Pickup point deliveries always send it. On by default.
What shoppers see at checkout
For home delivery the shopper just picks the rate. For a Pickup point rate they select Select a DPD Pickup point, search by postal code or city and pick a shop or a parcel locker from the list. The Pickup point has to be in the same country as the delivery address. DPD delivers by road to 28 European countries. An address elsewhere is told to choose another delivery method.
Day to day
- Open the order and select Fulfill items. Creating the fulfillment sends one shipment with one parcel to DPD and stores the label. See Fulfill and ship.
- The pickup date is the same day, or Monday when you create the label on a weekend. Public holidays are not skipped.
- If the order was placed with pay on delivery, the order total is sent as the cash on delivery amount and DPD pays it to the account set in Bank account ID.
- The order page has a DPD parcels panel with Label to download the label, Track to open DPD's tracking page, and the Pickup point. See Parcels.
- The status in the panel does not follow the parcel. When the parcel has arrived, mark the fulfillment as delivered yourself with Mark as delivered, see Mark as delivered.
- Canceling the fulfillment in your store does not cancel anything at DPD. The panel reminds you to delete the shipment in DPD Shipper so that the courier does not collect it.
- Return labels are not created by the app. Create a return in DPD Shipper.
If something goes wrong
- The credential check says DPD rejected the API email or key. Check both values, and that the key was issued to that email address.
- "DPD pickup address is missing". Fill in Pickup address ID.
- "DPD cash on delivery needs a bank account". Fill in Bank account ID, then fulfill again.
- "DPD needs the customer email on the order to announce the delivery." Add the email address to the order, then fulfill again.
- "DPD rejected the shipment", followed by a reason. DPD refused the data. The reason usually points at the address or the product. Correct it and fulfill again.
- The shopper is told that DPD does not deliver to their country, or that the Pickup point is in another country. They choose another delivery method or another Pickup point.
- The courier collected a parcel you had canceled. Shipments have to be deleted in DPD Shipper as well.
