Synchronize your existing Mailchimp audience and ecommerce orders.
Before you start
A Mailchimp account, API key, account data center and audience. A connected ecommerce store is optional: the app can create one.
Set up
Open the App Store, install Mailchimp, and open its settings. Save the account and audience identifiers, the store currency and the sales channel used for consent. For the store ID, enter a store already connected to this audience, or choose a new ID: validating creates that store on the audience. Validate and enable the app. Synchronize a known contact and order, then check them in Mailchimp.
Settings
Use the account identifiers and credentials issued for this connection. Save secret values only in the app’s credential fields. Keep test and production account details together.
Scope and limits
New locally opted-in contacts enter pending confirmation. A contact without consent is kept as transactional and is not marketed to. Unsubscribes made in Mailchimp are preserved. If someone unsubscribed through your store and subscribes again, they return to pending confirmation. A purchase does not subscribe a customer. Consent changes synchronize periodically, not at once; on a store that sleeps they wait for the next wake. Cancelled orders update automatically. A store stays on the audience it was created on. When a customer’s data is erased, the contact is permanently deleted from Mailchimp and cannot be imported again.
Troubleshooting
Check that the app is enabled, required settings are saved and the external account has the necessary access. If an operation has an uncertain outcome, check the external account before repeating it.
