This page appears only when developer mode is switched on. See Developer mode.
A price list holds alternative prices for chosen products. There are two types:
- Sale: temporary sale prices, shown on the storefront as a reduced price. On the Discounts list this is called Sale pricing.
- Override: prices that replace the normal price, usually for the customers of certain segments. On the Discounts list this is called Customer price list.
Without developer mode you can still create a price list with Create discount and open it from the Discounts list. Developer mode adds the Price Lists entry to the sidebar, with the full list.
Create a price list
Open Price Lists and select New price list. Create discount opens with the two kinds of price list.
Choose Sale pricing for a Sale list or Customer price list for an Override list.
Type a Title and a Description. The store refuses a price list with no description.
Optionally choose the customer group (segment) the list applies to.
Optionally set the Start date and the End date. Times are in the store's time zone. Leave both empty for a list with no window.
Choose the Status: Active to let it take effect, or Draft to prepare it first.
Select Create price list. The price list opens. It has no products yet.
Add products and prices
Open the price list.
In the Products block, select Add products.
Pick the product and continue. Its price grid opens, with one row per version.
Type the prices. Amounts are in the currency's own units.
Save. The product now appears in the Products block. Repeat for the next product.
You add one product per step, and a product joins the list when you save a price for it.
Change or remove prices
Open the price list.
In the Products block, open the product, or choose Edit prices.
Change the amounts. Clear a cell to remove that price from the list.
Save. The Price overrides count in the summary follows your change.
To take a whole product off the list, open the menu on its row and choose Remove.
Change the dates and the segments
Open the price list.
In the Configuration block, select the edit action.
On Edit Price List Configuration, change the Start date and the End date. Leave a field empty to remove that end of the window.
Select Add to add customer groups, or Remove to take one away.
Save. The status of the list follows the new dates.
To rename the list or to switch between Active and Draft, select Edit in the header and use Edit Price List.
Read the status
- Draft: prepared, not applied.
- Active: applied now.
- Scheduled: active, but the start date is still ahead.
- Expired: the end date has passed.
The list of price lists shows Title, Status, Type, Price overrides and Created, and can be filtered by status.
Delete a price list
Open the price list, select Delete and confirm.
Good to know
- A price list with no customer groups applies to every shopper. With customer groups it applies only to signed-in customers in those segments.
- Guests belong to no segment, so they never get segment prices.
- Price lists change the price of a product. Discount codes lower the price at checkout. Both can apply to the same order.
- The Exclude items already on sale restriction of a discount code leaves out products that have a sale price.
- Quantity breaks and tiered prices cannot be set up in the admin.
If something goes wrong
- This price list has no products yet. Select Add products and save at least one price.
- A sale price does not show on the storefront. Check that the list is Active, that the dates include today and that the price is set in the currency the shopper pays in. See Currencies.
- A customer does not get their special price. They must be signed in and belong to one of the list's segments. See Segments.
- Nothing can be saved from the price grid. The versions or the currencies changed while the grid was open. Reload it and enter the prices again.
