This page appears only when developer mode is switched on. See Developer mode.
A campaign gives one or more discounts a shared time window and a shared budget. When the window closes or the budget is used up, the discounts of the campaign stop working. Use it to cap what a promotion may cost before it starts.
Without developer mode you can still create a campaign with Create discount and open it from the Discounts list. Developer mode adds the Campaigns entry under Discounts in the sidebar, with the full list.
Create a campaign
Open Discounts, choose Campaigns and select Create.
On Create campaign, type a Name and an Identifier. The identifier must be unique in the store.
Optionally add a Description, a Start date and an End date. The dates are whole days in the store's time zone.
Under Budget, choose the type:
- Usage limits how many times the discounts can be used.
- Spend limits the total discounted amount. It needs a Currency.
Under Count per, leave the whole campaign, or choose Customer or Email to turn the limit into an allowance per shopper. A spend budget cannot count per shopper.
Type the Budget limit, or leave it empty for no limit.
Save. The campaign page opens.
Add discounts to a campaign
Open the campaign.
In the Discounts block, open the menu and choose Add.
Search for the promotion and select it.
Save. The promotion appears in the block. Repeat for each promotion: you add one per save.
You can also start from the discount: on a promotion page, select Edit in the Campaign block. See Promotions.
Read a campaign page
- The strip under the header: the number of discounts, the Campaign budget, Start date, End date and Currency.
- Details: Identifier, Description, the budget Type, Limit usage per and Created.
- Configuration: the Window with its start and end date.
- Budget: Budget spent or Budget used against the Budget limit.
- Discounts: the promotions in the campaign.
The list of campaigns shows each campaign's Name, Description, Identifier, Start date and End date, and its status: Scheduled before the start date, Active during the window and Expired after the end date.
Change the dates
Open the campaign.
In the Configuration block, select the edit action.
On Edit Campaign Configuration, change the Start date or the End date.
Save. The status of the campaign follows the new dates.
Change the budget limit
Open the campaign.
In the budget block, select the edit action.
Type the new limit, or clear the field for no limit.
Save. The block shows the amount used against the new limit.
Delete a campaign
Open the campaign, select Delete and confirm. The promotions that were in the campaign are not deleted; they lose their shared window and budget.
Good to know
- The budget type, its currency and what it counts per are fixed once the campaign exists. Only the limit can be changed later.
- A promotion can be in one campaign at a time. To move it, take it out of the old campaign first.
- A promotion can join a spend campaign only when its currency matches the campaign's currency.
- A campaign has no restrictions of its own. Who can use a code is set on each discount: see Coupon restrictions.
- Campaigns that the store creates for loyalty reward codes and product gift cards stay out of the list.
- Email campaigns are a different feature. See Broadcasts.
If something goes wrong
- The store refuses the identifier. Another campaign already uses it. Choose a different one.
- "That campaign budgets in a different currency than this promotion." Add a promotion with the same currency, or create a campaign with a usage budget.
- A code stopped working during the campaign. The budget is used up or the end date has passed. Raise the Budget limit or move the End date.
