# Connect Poltura to Claude, ChatGPT and more

Add your store to Claude, ChatGPT or Perplexity in a few clicks, without a terminal, and choose exactly what the app may see and do.

- Where: Claude, ChatGPT or Perplexity → Connectors

You can talk to your store from an AI app you already use. Ask Claude how last week's sales went, or ask ChatGPT to find an order, and the app looks it up in Poltura. You add Poltura to the app once, sign in, and choose which stores it may reach and what it may do.

Every app uses the same address:

```text
https://api.poltura.com/mcp
```

## Before you start

- You need a Poltura account with access to the store.
- The AI app must let you add your own connector. Not every plan of every app does: see [Which plans allow it](https://docs.poltura.com/en/assistant/connect-ai-apps/#plans).
- Add the connector in a web browser or the desktop app. Phone apps use connectors you added there, but most cannot add a new one.
- Developers who use Cursor, VS Code, Claude Code or Codex can follow [Add the MCP server](https://developers.poltura.com/ai/install) instead.

## Claude on the web and on desktop

1. Open [claude.ai](https://claude.ai) or the Claude desktop app.
2. Open **Customize**, then **Connectors**.
3. Select **+ Add**, then **Add custom connector**.
4. Type `Poltura` as the name and paste `https://api.poltura.com/mcp` as the server address.
5. Select **Add**. A Poltura page opens in your browser. Sign in and choose the access, as described in [What you see in Poltura](https://docs.poltura.com/en/assistant/connect-ai-apps/#consent).
6. Back in a chat, select **+** at the bottom left, open **Connectors** and switch **Poltura** on.

On a Team or Enterprise plan, an owner adds the connector first, under **Organization settings → Connectors**. Members then find Poltura under **Customize → Connectors** and select **Connect**.

## Claude on your phone

Add Poltura on the web or in the desktop app first, as above. The next time you open Claude on your iPhone, iPad or Android phone with the same account, Poltura is there. Switch it on in a chat the same way.

## ChatGPT

1. Open [chatgpt.com](https://chatgpt.com) in a web browser and go to the **Plugins** page.
2. Select **+**, then **Add custom MCP server**.
3. Type `Poltura` as the name and paste `https://api.poltura.com/mcp` as the **Server URL**.
4. Choose **OAuth** as the sign-in method.
5. Read the warning and select **I understand and want to continue**, then **Create as a plugin**.
6. Install the new Poltura plugin. A Poltura page opens: sign in and choose the access, as described in [What you see in Poltura](https://docs.poltura.com/en/assistant/connect-ai-apps/#consent).
7. In a chat, type `@` and pick **Poltura**, or let ChatGPT choose it when your question is about your store.

ChatGPT asks you before Poltura changes anything, and Poltura asks again for refunds and deletes.

In a ChatGPT Business, Enterprise or Edu workspace, only an admin or owner can add the plugin for everyone.

## Perplexity

1. Open [perplexity.ai](https://www.perplexity.ai) in a web browser.
2. Open **Connectors** (under **Customize**, or **Plugins** in newer versions), select **Add custom**, then **Add MCP connector**.
3. Choose **Remote**, type `Poltura` as the name and paste `https://api.poltura.com/mcp` as the address.
4. Under the advanced options, choose **OAuth**.
5. Tick the box to confirm, and save. Sign in to Poltura when the page opens.

In an organization, an admin must first allow members to add their own connectors.

## What you see in Poltura

When the app sends you to Poltura, you see one page titled, for example, "Claude wants to access your stores".

1. Sign in, if you are not signed in already.
2. Check the mark next to the app's name. **Verified** means Poltura has checked who runs the app.
3. Under **Stores**, tick the stores the app may reach. **Grant access to all stores** also includes stores you add later.
4. Under **Permissions**, switch on only what you want. Each row says what it allows and is tagged **Can only see**, **Can change**, **Can delete** or **Personal data**. Deleting always says **Always asks you first**.
5. Choose how long the access lasts. It is 30 days unless you pick another time.
6. Select **Allow access**. If you allowed changes, Poltura first asks you to confirm it's you with your passkey, an authenticator code or your password.

Start with **Can only see**. You can connect again later to allow more.

The app can never do more than you can yourself. It asks you before every delete and every refund, and those wait for you in [Agent requests](https://docs.poltura.com/en/assistant/agent-requests/).

## Your first questions

Try one of these in a new chat with Poltura switched on:

- "How did my store do in the last 7 days? Compare it with the week before."
- "Find order 1042 and tell me if it is paid and shipped."
- "Which products are low on stock?"
- "List my products that have no description, and write one for each. Don't save anything yet."

## Disconnect an app

You can remove an app's access at any time. It stops working within 30 seconds.

1. In the Poltura admin, open **Settings → AI agents**.
2. Under **Connected apps and agents**, open the app.
3. Select **Revoke access** and confirm with **Revoke**.

You can also remove your own connections in Poltura ID under **Account → Connected apps**. Removing Poltura in Claude, ChatGPT or Perplexity hides it there, but only revoking it in Poltura ends its access.

To stop every AI app at once in a store, turn off **Allow AI agents (MCP)** on the same page. Klea keeps working. See [AI agents and connected tools](https://docs.poltura.com/en/assistant/ai-agents/#switch).

## Which plans allow it

These are the apps' own rules, checked in October 2026. They change often, so look at the app's help pages if an option is missing.

| App | Plans that can add Poltura |
| ---------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Claude | Free (one custom connector), Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise. On Team and Enterprise an owner adds it first. |
| ChatGPT | Business, Enterprise and Edu can look things up and make changes. Pro can only look things up. If you don't see **Add custom MCP server**, your plan does not offer it. |
| Perplexity | Accounts that see **Add custom** under Connectors. In an organization, an admin must allow it. |

## If something goes wrong

- **The Poltura page does not open.** Your browser may have blocked the pop-up. Allow pop-ups for the app and try again.
- **"This request has expired."** Go back to the app and connect again.
- **The app says it cannot do something.** You did not allow it on the Poltura page. Connect again and switch that permission on.
- **The app says access to the store is turned off.** An owner turned off **Allow AI agents (MCP)** in **Settings → AI agents**, or your organization turned off third-party apps and agents.
- **Your work network blocks it.** Ask your IT team to allow `api.poltura.com`.
